Checking your licence

To see your licence details, open SiteTour and go to Settings → Licence.

You’ll see:

Your licence tier (Starter, Pro, or Enterprise)
The expiry date
How many days are remaining

What happens when your licence expires

SiteTour gives you a 14-day grace period after your licence expiry date. During those 14 days, everything keeps working normally — you’ll just see a warning banner at the top of the screen reminding you to renew.

After 14 days, SiteTour will stop opening projects until the licence is renewed. Your data is safe — nothing is deleted — it just waits until you renew.

Renewing your licence

When your licence is due for renewal, you’ll receive a new .lic file by email. You can also download it from the customer portal at any time.

To apply the new licence:

Open SiteTour
Go to Settings → Licence → Replace licence file
Select the new .lic file you received

SiteTour picks it up straight away. No restart, no reinstallation.

For IT administrators

Licence validation

The licence file is verified cryptographically on disk at startup and periodically at runtime. No activation server is contacted — validation is entirely local. No registry entries or environment variables are involved.

Checking licence status via API

With SiteTour running, you can query licence status programmatically:

Field	Description
`valid`	`true` if the licence is currently accepted
`tier`	`starter`, `pro`, or `enterprise`
`expiresAt`	ISO 8601 expiry date
`daysRemaining`	Days until expiry; negative during grace period
`gracePeriod`	`true` if operating within the 14-day post-expiry window

This endpoint can be polled from a monitoring script or health check to get ahead of renewals.

Licence file location (server bundle)

If you are running the server bundle rather than the desktop app, the licence file lives at:

Windows: C:\SiteTour\licences\sitetour.lic
Linux: /opt/sitetour/licences/sitetour.lic

To renew on the server bundle: replace the .lic file, then restart the server process. Startup typically takes 3–6 seconds, giving under 10 seconds of total downtime.
